Success with AdWords comes from paying attention to these 3 elements on a daily basis.
Here's the 3 Most Important Elements of Every Google AdWords Campaign
1.) Keywords - You need the right keywords and enough of them to effectively reach your potential customers.
2.) Ads - Write your ads to clearly promote the benefits of your offer. Do not talk about yourself or your company here.
3.) Landing Pages - Design your landing pages with the goal of getting your visitors to take your call to action. Follow proven landing page design techniques.
Monitor your keywords on a daily basis. Are you keywords generating clicks and conversions? If not you may want to consider deleting keywords that are generating clicks and not conversions. This will save you a lot of money on AdWords.
If sales leads are your goal then track how well each of your keywords are generating leads.

On a daily basis you should track how well your ads are performing by measuring your Click-Through-Ratio (CTR). In general the higher your CTR the better your ad is performing. The most simple way to get a higher CTR is to write your ads in a way that tells the searcher what he/she wants to see. You're probably saying, if it were that simple my ads would already have a high CTR!
You can increase your CTR's by split testing your ads. Google allows you to do this automatically. You simply write 2 ads with one ad being just slightly different than the other and let Google split the traffic between them. After a period of time you'll notice that one ad will most likely have a higher CTR than the other. Go to www.splittester.com and type in the appropriate data from each of your 2 ads and this tool will tell you which ad is the best performer. (make sure that you check the box in your AdWords settings to "rotate" your ads and not "optimize" your ads or the split test feature will not work.)
If you delete the losing ad and start your test over again each time you should start to get higher CTR's. Never stop this process.
Your landing pages should be built with conversion in mind. You want your visitors to take your call to action and not to navigate to another page on your site or go back to Google and search again. Follow proven landing page designs and you'll find better conversion rates.
