Getting Organized With A Home Business

If you spend a lot of time on the computer, or make a living on it, you must keep it organized. I compare it to a clean car inside and out. It's work to keep it clean everyday, but knowing where your stuff is at, is a great feeling.
How often do you go to a web page that demands a user name and password to login? Of course your normal user name and password won't work, and you have no clue what it might be. You look around the desk to see if it might magically be available.
You swear to yourself that you wrote it down somewhere and you proceed to look through a pile of papers near your computer. After about ten minutes of that you give up. You start opening drawers when you finally realize that information is long gone.
You have no choice now but to re-open a new account and go through the whole process again. You get an email confirmation telling you that your new account should be active within a day or two. You almost take a hammer to your computer and start smashing it into a million pieces.
I managed to repeat this mistake for years until I finally made a change for the better. It's hard to change when you do things a certain way forever. But, if you force yourself to be aware, you will never have this problem again.
I finally came up with the bright idea to make a word file on my computer. I call it "passwords". I put this file on the bottom left of my desktop screen so I can always find it. It works like a charm. I finally came up with the bright idea to make a word file on my computer. I call it "passwords". I put this file on the bottom left of my desktop screen so I can always find it. It works like a charm.
What I do next is take the website URL and the login information and I paste it into my file. I have a pretty large file now, BUT I know where everything is. I put other pertinent information in there as well.
A lot of the passwords and logins are the same, but this really is useful for those rogue logins that are forced on you. Everyone says you should have a different user and pass for each account, but I am not exactly storing top security information for most of these sites.
The website accounts I use most are usually the ones that force a user name on me. How ironic? It's kind of like juggling. You can usually remember some of the logins for the sites you are on a lot, but it's those occasional logins that can really throw you off.
Nonetheless, if you start to do this, I can almost guarantee that your life will become easier on the computer. If you make your living on the computer like I do, then you might consider giving this method a shot.
